Job summary
A rare opportunity for a part time Specialist Safeguarding Nurse in the Childrens Team has become available within Leeds Community Healthcare (LCH). The Safeguarding team are looking for a qualified Nurse who is enthusiastic and self-motivated with a keen desire to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and adults.
The role requires a dynamic, assertive, resilient, and caring individual with an inquiring mind. The successful candidate will be expected to work within LCH corporate safeguarding team across all aspects of safeguarding children. It will involve a combination of home based and office working. In the absence of the Lead Nurse, the band 6 role will also be required to support the Front Door Safeguarding Hub. Its essential to possess effective communication skills and promote the embedding of safeguarding principles into every day professional practice.
Main duties of the job

- The successful candidate will demonstrate motivation and a proactive approach to safeguarding work-streams being taken forward.
- They will contribute to team working, being respectful and sensitive to everyone in this challenging area of work. They will demonstrate skills and confidence in delivering key responsibilities which include:
- Provide support, guidance, and advice to front-line practitioners. Facilitate training, internal to the trust and externally to the wider partnership.
- Support LCH practitioners through Child Protection Supervision. Have an awareness of Front Door Safeguarding Hub and contribute to strategy discussions where needed.
- Capture data - identifying themes and trends and completing clinical audits. Escalate concerns to Senior Advisor and Named Nurse where needed. Support LCH practitioners with court/police statements.
- Represent LCH at multi agency meetings. Understand and undertake wider roles within the team such as the SUDIC process.
