Nursing Assistant Practitioner

The closing date is 18 January 2026

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Practitioner to join our Children's Community Nursing Service. We have positions within our Continuing Care & Health Short Breaks team where we provide respite in the family home.

Our service specialises in caring for children and young people with multiple complex health needs & learning disabilities. We work 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and therefore you will normally work a mix of days, nights, weekends and bank holidays although we do support applications for flexible working when we can.

As this is a clinical role, candidates will be required to have previous clinical experience of working with children or adults with complex health or additional needs. You will receive a full package of training and will be well supported by an experienced team of nurses until you are competent and confident to work alone. The role will involve some travel so access to transport with business insurance cover will be required.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for individuals who are caring, fun, resilient and motivated to work alongside a specialist team of professionals. Interested candidates should love working with children, can engage and communicate well with parents and enjoy being part of a team as well as being able to work on your own.

You will be responsible for providing clinical care within the family home and within Hannah House (respite unit) as needed. The work is interesting, varied and includes caring for children who are tracheostomy ventilated, delivering tube feeds, giving medication, moving and handling as well as enabling children to play and have fun. The role will involve teaching and supporting more junior members of staff.

We work a cross service model of working so you will have the opportunity to spend time and work with our other clinical teams (Specialist Inclusion Learning Centres and Children's Nursing team) which you may be asked to support as the service requires.

Adverts will close early where the maximum numbers applicants is reached.
