Specialist Technical Instructor - Communication Aid Service

Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to join our small communication aid team which is part of the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service. Your role will be as a Specialist technical instructor based at Chapeltown Health Centre. You will have a passion for supporting adults and children/young people with communication difficulties who require the use of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) to communicate with others. In addition to excellent communication skills and an understanding of severe and complex communication needs, you will be highly technical and have a sound understanding of apple devices and other communication aids. The interview will be held at Chapeltown Health centre on Wednesday the 4th of February 2026.
Main duties of the job
You will have:
Excellent communication skills
Technical skills especially around apple devices and other communication aids
Computer skills
Time management skills
Organisation skills
Being open to new learning and training - keeping up to date with changes in devices and management of these devices
Understanding of an MDM (Mobile Device Manager) and be able to manage this for the team - desirable
Sound knowledge of Apple devices and manage the Apple business manager
Understanding of communication difficulties
Empathy when dealing with sensitive situations
Car Driver essential
