Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Community Neurology Rehabilitation Team. This is a fantastic chance to develop your specialist skills within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, working with adults living with a wide range of neurological conditions across the community.
You will play a key role in delivering person-centred, goal-oriented rehabilitation to help service users improve their quality of life in their own homes and community settings.
Our Team provides specialist assessment and rehabilitation for adults with neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons disease, acquired brain injury, and other complex neurological presentations.
We are a friendly, dynamic, and forward-thinking team that includes physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses, consultants, dietitians, therapy assistant practitioners and rehabilitation assistants. We work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and evaluation for adults with neurological conditions in community settings.
- Use a client-centred approach to enable individuals to identify and achieve realistic personal goals within our service offer.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary care
- Support self-management, carer education, and equipment provision.
- Supervise and support junior staff, students, therapy assistant practitioners and/ or rehabilitation assistants.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the team.
The successful candidate will have experience of working as an Occupational Therapist and working with people who have neurological conditions. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with service users, relatives/carers and other members of the team. The post holder must be able to work under pressure, organising their own workload and under supervision of others. Candidates must have an Occupational Therapy qualification at least at degree level and be registered with the HCPC.
Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
