0-19 Health Care Support Worker

If so then why not come and join our progressive, innovative and forward-thinking 0-19 Service as a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW). We have a well-established and supportive team of HCSWs, who strive to deliver the best possible care primarily to the school aged population across Leeds. Your role will include supporting the delivery of the National Child Measurement Programme and vision screening in primary schools. No two days will be the same and you will need to have an adaptable approach as you will work with different children in diverse schools across the city. The role is continually evolving and will offer you exciting development opportunities including supporting other interventions across the Service such as assisting with our HENRY programme delivery, undertaking set for schools reviews and working with young carer and oral health initiatives.

Main duties of the job

Alongside 0-19 colleagues and partner agencies, you will demonstrate effective team working and excellent communication skills; you will have an understanding of key child developmental milestones, awareness of safeguarding issues and an ability to promote healthy lifestyles. A typical working week could include: measuring and recording of the height and weight of Reception and Year 6 pupils in primary schools across the city; undertaking distance vision screening to Reception aged children; facilitating a Community Clinic outside of school hours; undertaking set for school record reviews; signposting to other key services; completing referrals as appropriate; inputting and sharing data; liaising with parents/carers to offer support and guidance. This role is term time only - Monday to Friday.
