Job summary
We are seeking a registered health professional who would like to join our Safety Team (Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Security Services), as our Moving and Handling Lead on a full-time basis.
This role works closely with our clinical and non-clinical staff, providing advice and assistance on complex moving and handling tasks, undertaking accident and incident investigations, and ensuring suitable and sufficient manual handling risk assessments are in place.
Based at White Rose Park, but with travel across Leeds and potentially some further reaching geographical areas where staff are based, a full driving licence and access to a car are essential.
You will be able to work autonomously and possess good organisation and communication skills (verbal, written and presenting).
The successful candidate will have experience of training staff and will ideally possess train the trainer certificates for both moving and handling and the use of evacuation chairs.
You will also be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and be able to use software for recording risk assessments and other information.
Main duties of the job
The role will include
- Developing and reviewing policies, method statements, and risk assessments and method statements
- Investigating accidents and incidents relating to patient or non-patient manual handling
- Developing and presenting performance reports
- Managing the Moving and Handling external contract
- Carrying out training needs assessment
- Assisting managers with the development Personal Emergency Evacuation Training staff on the use of Evac Chairs, including how to transfer patients
