Pharmacy Technician
This job is now closed
Job summary
Leeds Community Healthcare have a vacancy for a Pharmacy Technician. The successful candidate will be based within the Armley Neighbourhood Team and be required to enable medicine optimisation and adherence for their patients.
You will achieve this by visiting patients in their own homes to assess their medication compliance and to enable the smooth transition from other health care settings back to their own homes.
Your role will include transcribing MAR charts to enable the Neighbourhood Teams to support their patients with their medicines. There will also be some diagnostic testing (Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose etc) as well as the administration of medication, including insulin.
Main duties of the job
At Leeds Community Healthcare we adopt a patient-centred approach. The role involves some lone working, and you will be in charge of your own caseload. It is therefore vital that the candidate will be able to work independently, autonomously and be able to demonstrate prioritising and time management skills.
For these reasons we feel that the candidate would benefit from having some post qualification experience, but newly qualified will also be considered. Problem solving will also be a useful skill, as is the ability to acknowledge the concerns of our patients.
The successful candidate will also be an excellent communicator as you will be communicating with a wide range of people and over a variety of disciplines. These would include Social Services, Primary and Secondary Care staff.
A typical day may consist of re-writing several MAR charts and administering medication at the same visit, including oral, topical medication and insulin. You would also assess patients medication compliance and look at ways to help patients self-medicate.
A knowledge of Systm1 would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be given.
