Job summary

The Minor Injuries unit, in Shropshire Community Health NHS Trusts vision of care is to provide the highest quality of care for our patients, close to home. Our aim is to give prompt and efficient service where every effort is made to maintain the patient's privacy and dignity. Whilst providing a service which considers the patients physical, social, and spiritual wellbeing, as well as their health needs. The successful applicant will work as an autonomous practitioner within the Ludlow Minor Injury Unit and deliver professional leadership to staff. To have responsibility for the day to day running of the unit and line management of staff to deliver capacity and demand management, compliance with both clinical quality and performance indicators and to achieve excellent patient outcomes and experience. To consistently work towards service improvements, promote multi-disciplinary working and adhere to Trust policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead the day-to-day operation of the MIU within the department taking overall responsibility for the line management of staff and the provision of high-quality service.
  • To provide professional leadership and support to the multi-disciplinary staff by bringing expertise in theory and practice to the MIU.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the MIU i.e., Health and Safety issues, acting within Trust policies and procedures.
  • Work, without supervision, as an autonomous practitioner in urgent and unscheduled care. Directing and delivering a patient focused service in a primarily nurse led service within the MIU.
  • Be responsible and accountable for clinical advice and opinions given to other health care workers e.g., General Practitioners, and specialist nurses in relation to advanced injury management.
