Job summary
We have an exciting and rare opportunity for you to join our Quality Improvement Team as Medicines Safety Officer, on a 12 month fixed-term contract (covering Maternity Leave).
You will work alongside our Pharmacy colleagues, Quality Team and Senior Corporate Team to help improve the safety of Medicines Management within our Community Trust.
The role will require cross site working and so it is essential that you can travel between all sites.

Main duties of the job
- The post-holder will be an expert practitioner and will provide robust clinical leadership, advice and training to a range of multi-disciplinary professionals in the field of medicines management.
- The role requires an experienced clinician to work with the Chief Pharmacist, heads of service, service managers and managers from the wider health community. For example, to provide support with new projects and services which will improve the safety of medicines management across SCHT.
- The post holder will be responsible for managing all medicines incidents reported through Datix and act as the Trust's Medicines Safety Officer, hosting lesson's learned meetings and supporting staff to prepare quality root cause analysis documents. Leading the training required following outcomes of RCA's and disseminating learning to professional groups throughout SCHT and with all stakeholders and partner agencies e.g. Shropdoc, SaTH, RJAH and others across the health economy to maintain patient safety with respect to medicine.
- To be responsible for supporting all aspects of non-medical prescribing for the Trust and providing assurance to the Chief Pharmacist.
