Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Nurse to join our established School Aged Immunisation Service (SAIS), delivering the Nasal Flu and Adolescent vaccination programmes in schools and community clinics to the local population throughout Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. We also are commissioned to deliver a Domiciliary Neonatal Hepatitis B and Dried Blood Spot (DBS) screening in the SAIS team.

You will need to possess a good understanding of the public health role and have worked in community settings. It would be an advantage to have experience of delivering immunisations or worked with children in schools or community settings. You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to work independently as well part of a team.

  • 22.5 hours a week Term Time Only + 2 weeks pro rata school holiday cover. You will be required to work flexibly to cover the service between 8am to 6pm Monday-Friday and the occasional Saturday working may be required to deliver a community clinic as needed.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be delivering immunisations including national campaigns to the school age population which include the Seasonal Flu programme, HPV Neutral Gender programme and Meningitis ACWY, Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio (DTP) programme.
  • You will be delivering the Hepatitis B and Dried Blood Spot (DBS) screening as a domiciliary programme.
  • You will work within schools, clinics and home setting.
  • You will use e-consent as well as paper forms to gain valid consent within the legal frameworks for immunising children and young people.
