Job summary

Our system Speech, Language and Communication (SLC) Workstream is guided by our two parent/carer forums, who bring their knowledge, skills and experience to the re-design and evaluation of SLCN services. We are all committed to co-production.

Though big in size, our local system is small, meaning it's easy to speak to the right people, work together to understand issues and find solutions. We have strong relationships and like to get things done.

We have 3 SLT teams. The Community team provides care across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, delivering universal -targeted support and specialist pathways in stammering, voice, selective mutism, developmental language disorder and specific speech difficulties across all ages.

If you are a natural influencer, believe that hard work, professional standards and curiosity, diversity, and innovation can deliver positive change, perhaps you'd consider this leadership role within our Community Team.

Our team have identified the importance of feeling satisfied with the work we do. We aim to deliver opportunities to research, innovate, follow our interests, build our knowledge and skills, and develop our careers.

To maintain your clinical career you will hold a clinical caseload, guided by your areas of interest and where you would like to be based.

If you feel this role is of interest to you, please arrange to speak with one of the team about the career opportunities with us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Main duties of the job

  • To be part of the Children's SLT management and clinical leadership team, developing, delivering, and evaluating the service in line with the agreed service specifications determined by Commissioners.
  • To provide clinical leadership for the service for children cared for by the Community Team including those with Universal or Targeted Speech, Language, and Communication Needs and those supported by Specialist Community pathways.
  • To work in close partnership with parent/carers, professionals, and organisations to deliver a model of care which makes a significant contribution to improving health, social and education outcomes, and reducing inequalities in access to services.
  • To be responsible for all issues relating to clinical practice together with other Team Leaders and Clinical Leads within the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team and relevant managers of Children's Services.
