Job summary
Central London Community Healthcare is currently seeking a Band 3 Bank Healthcare Assistant to join the team on a temporary basis for 3-4 months, working 2 days per week (preferably Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
The Bank Healthcare Assistant will provide a combination of general and specialised care to a group of patients, working under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse or allied health professional.
The post holder will be expected to develop proficiency and competence within their area of practice by completing competency-based assessments relevant to the clinical setting. They will promote optimum independence and deliver individualised, patient-centred care to a delegated caseload.
In addition, the post holder will support the Community Diabetes Team in achieving key performance indicators and maintaining high standards of service quality.

Main duties of the job
The role includes supporting the Consultant, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, and the Specialist Dietician, ensuring the effective provision of nursing care to patients attending Barnet Diabetes clinics.
Part of the role includes delivery of Desmond Education Training programmes for people with type 2 diabetes. Training will be arranged through the Desmond National Training centre and support will be given to enable the successful applicant to achieve the required accreditation. Successful candidate will need excellent clinical, organisational, IT and communication skills.
Part of the role will also include supporting patient with blood glucose monitoring using new available technology and devices with good understanding of results interpretation and management.Part of the role will include vital signs monitoring, weight checks. Supporting clinicians with clinic preparation including blood test results.
