Job summary

CLCH (Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust) is recruiting for a Temporary Bank Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist at Edgware community Hospital

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients with neurological presentations across Stroke and Neuro Rehabilitation pathways, developing and delivering individualised treatment programmes.

The role will involve working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support effective rehabilitation outcomes and ensure timely, coordinated discharge planning.

The post holder will actively support initiatives aimed at reducing length of stay, including undertaking key worker responsibilities where appropriate. Flexibility is essential, with a willingness to support other rehabilitation wards when required.

The post holder will manage their own caseload, working both independently and with indirect supervision.

The role also involves participation in evidence-based audit and research activity to support and enhance physiotherapy practice within the service.

Main duties of the job

To perform Specialist physiotherapy assessment for stroke and patients with neurological conditions.To independently manage own clinical caseload, undertaking comprehensive neurological assessments and using advanced clinical reasoning skills to formulate and deliver individual and group treatment programmes.To work alongside the Highly Specialist Neuro physiotherapy team lead with complex patients and be responsible for providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment plans.

To advise and educate patients and their families/ carers on the management of individual problems. Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid and informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.Work effectively with those patients whose first language is not English and take into consideration diversity issues in particular differing cultural awareness.

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Current UK HCPC registration
  • Evidence of up-to-date CPD portfolio, aattendance at specialist short courses or equivalent CPD activities within the specialist areas of Neuro Rehabilitation.

Desirable

  • Member of a Special Interest Group relevant to this post such as ACPIN
  • Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience as a qualified physiotherapist, with both theoretical and practical knowledge across a broad range of Band 5 rotations, including Stroke/ Neurology/Neurosciences
  • Experience at band 6 level in Stroke/ Neurology.
  • Experience of carrying out a comprehensive neurological assessment to formulate a comprehensive neurological treatment plan and goals.
  • Experience of using a wide range of neuro-physiotherapeutic interventions for the treatment of patients with neurological conditions.

Desirable

  • Previous experience at Specialist Neuro Physiotherapist (Band 6) level in Neurology/ Stroke/ Neurosciences.
  • Experience of working with patients with complex presentation which may include: Brain Injury, SCI, progressive neurological disorders.
