We are looking for a skilled and committed Occupational Therapist to join our Barnet Unplanned Care Therapy Team. We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences who share our commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred, community-based care.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team across the London Borough of Barnet, providing coordinated and holistic care to people in the community.

The post holder will be based at Finchley Memorial Hospital and will support individuals to remain safely in their homes and communities. You will work as part of the Rapid Response and Discharge to Assess (D2A/NWB) Service, delivering high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.

You will also contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit and research activities, helping to ensure the service continues to meet the needs of the diverse population we serve.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as an experienced occupational therapy practitioner within a community-based multidisciplinary team
  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention to a community caseload, promoting independence and wellbeing
  • Undertake timely and person-centred triage of referrals to support safe and appropriate care pathways
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Operational Manager and wider team to support ongoing service development
  • Provide professional support, supervision and where appropriate, line management to colleagues and learners
  • Contribute to leadership within the team, including deputising for the Clinical Lead or Operational Manager when required
  • Participate in and lead quality improvement initiatives, including audit and research projects
  • Support a culture of continuous learning, inclusion and high standards of care across the team

  • Minimum of 4 years post registration experience at band 6 level in a wide range of clinical areas that is, management of chronic LT conditions, respiratory, cardiac, community rehabilitation and neuro
  • Experience of Community and multidisciplinary work
  • Postgraduate experience of working in an inter- professional and multi-agency team
  • Managing complex caseloads
  • Good knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other legislation
  • Experience of clinical risk management
