As an Occupational Therapist at Robertson, you will play a key role in helping patients with neurological conditions regain independence and function. You will be responsible for:

  • Deliveringspecialised assessments and rehabilitationto patients admitted to the neuro rehab ward, as well as providing care in the community and patients' homes.
  • Managing acomplex caseloadthat includes patients with physical, cognitive, and psychological health needs.
  • Developingindividualised treatment plansto promote positive rehabilitation outcomes and support timely, coordinated discharge planning.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, providing expert advice and guidance to professionals, carers and relatives.
  • Supervising junior staff and students, while ensuring high standards of practice within the team.

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct advanced Occupational Therapy assessmentsfor patients with diverse physical and cognitive needs, using manual assessment techniques and clinical reasoning to provide an accurate diagnosis.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based treatment programmes, including exercise prescription, splinting, education and alternative therapeutic options.
  • Take a leadership role indelivering specialist therapyto patients with complex neurological conditions across various rotations.
  • Deliverperson-centred care, setting realistic goals and ensuring safe, ethical practice in relation to consent and decision-making.
  • Working collaboratively within a specialist multidisciplinary team, practising autonomously to optimise patient outcomes.

Essential

  • Registration with HCPC.
  • Experience of working with neurological patients in delivery of rehabilitation packages or in a rehab setting at Band 5 level.
  • Documented evidence of professional development and reflective practice in relevant aspects of neurological rehabilitation e.g. attendance at in-service training sessions, reflective practice

Desirable

  • Attendance at relevant post-graduate neurological training courses e.g. Bobath, spasticity management , splinting, cognition and perceptual assessment , fatigue management
  • Experience of working in a neurological rehabilitation setting at band 6 level.

  • Ability and experience of carrying out a comprehensive neurological occupational therapy assessment to formulate a comprehensive neurological treatment plan and goals.
  • Knowledge and experience of using a wide range of therapeutic occupational therapy interventions for the treatment of patients with neurological conditions.
