Healthcare Support Worker - Sexual Health

Job summary

CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services - CLCH NHS Trust provides a range of Community Services, and the Hertfordshire Division is recruiting!

Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is one of the largest community healthcare organisations in London and Hertfordshire, providing our services to diverse communities/boroughs in 11 London Boroughs - Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westminster - and Hertfordshire.

To provide high standards of care to patients with sexual health needs and to ensure the smooth running of the clinical environment. The post holder will be required to deliver care, under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Medical Doctor within community based sexual health clinics.

The post holder will be responsible for:

Further Information and General Responsibilities:

  • The service runs 5 days per week between 8am and 8pm.
  • The post holder may be required to work in any of the sites covered by the service in line with service development and need.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out a range of diagnostic tests for example, microscopy and venepuncture
  • To ensure that all samples collected during the patient examination or procedure are identified, labelled, checked, and processed according to clinic guidelines.
  • To maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to patient's attendance and maintain that confidentiality does not expire with the passage of time.
  • To always ensure the maintenance of patients' privacy, dignity, and confidentiality, promoting and supporting patients' rights and choices with regards to their care.
  • To prepare patients for clinical examinations and procedures and to assist clinical staff with the examination or procedure adhering to the principles chaperoning and of Aseptic

  • Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3) Or
  • A recognised equivalent course in health and/or social care validated by the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) or a Level 3 or higher course in a health and/or social care from a Higher Education Institute Or .
  • A formal academic qualification in any subject from a college or university of Level 3 or above plus two years care delivery in a health or social care setting

Desirable

  • GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths - Registration with the national regulatory body (when it becomes available).
  • Willingness to undertake further training as appropriate

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a health or social care setting
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) with experience of inputting to databases, spreadsheets and/or other IT systems and business applications used in the office environment

Desirable

  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience of working in a customer service role
  • Experience with the NHS patient information database (Rio, CIS)
