Central London Community Health NHS Trust CLCH is offering an exciting developmental opportunity, starting at Band 7, with progression to Band 8a upon successful completion of a structured development programme and achievement of agreed competencies.
This Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner MSK Developmental Post is a senior clinical role within our integrated community musculoskeletal service, providing expert clinical leadership, advanced practice, and service development across CLCH.
You will work closely with a highly experienced team of Advanced Practitioners and a Consultant Physiotherapist, delivering high quality patient care while contributing to service innovation, continued professional development, and the strategic direction of MSK services.
Main duties of the job
This post will focus on the delivery and development of MSK services, providing high-level clinical expertise, mentorship, and service innovation.
As part of this developmental role, you will:

Deliver a high standard of advanced clinical care for adult patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions

Provide expert clinical opinion and advice to managers, supporting the strategic development of the physiotherapy service across the organisation

Take a lead role in the organisation, development, and evaluation of the Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner service

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate management of patients seen within Physiotherapy Practitioner clinics

Provide clinical leadership within the MSK physiotherapy service, supporting quality improvement, service redesign, and innovation

Contribute to mentorship, supervision, and development of physiotherapy staff within the service

Apply the principles of clinical governance to support safe practice, service quality, and continuous improvement

Essential
- Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
- Minimum 5 years' experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- Evidence of CPD in MSK physiotherapy in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
- Postgraduate education/courses in MSK
- Educational attainment at level 7 in MSK
Desirable
- MSc in musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- Clinical interest group membership
- Leadership training
- Injection Therapy qualification
- Knowledge/experience of pain services
Experience
Essential
- Extensive NHS experience in musculoskeletal
- Experience of managing complex patients including those with red flag presentations and potentially suspicious pathology.
- Experience of teaching and training colleagues and peers in specialist skills associated with the role.
- Experience of planning, organising and undertaking high level audit and research and development relevant to the service.
- A well-developed understanding of the wider context musculoskeletal heath and its impact upon local health economies. Understanding of the role of Clinical Governance in Health Care Services and its application to MSK Physiotherapy
Desirable
- Previous experience of working as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner autonomously.
- Experience of teaching / training high level clinicians such as GP's
