CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services - CLCH NHS Trust provides a range of Community Services, and the Hertfordshire Division is recruiting!
West Hertfordshire community neuro service provided by CLCH is looking for an enthusiastic forward thinking Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Nurse Specialist.
We have a wonderful opportunity for someone with neuro experience to come and work with us for a year, working in the community supporting people with MS. We are able to offer support within our large team to help you support the patients on the caseload.
12 month fixed term contract, part time. Internal CLCH staff & external secondments from other NHS organisations considered.
Main duties of the job
This role involves providing care for people with MS within the community, including running out-patient clinics and visiting people in their homes. You will be working as the community specialist in supporting with symptom management, support and education. You will be supported by our great multi-disciplinary team environment, alongside many highly skilled and experienced Physiotherapists, Specialist Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, support staff.

Essential
- Diploma/degree in nursing
- Current NMC registration
- Evidence of up to date CPD portfolio relevant to specialty
- Involvement in Appraisal Scheme
- Attendance at specialist advanced courses or equivalent CPD activities within the specialist areas of Adult Rehabilitation, Neurology
- Member of a Special Interest Group relevant to this post
- Band 7) MS Development module (MS Trust) or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Educated to Masters Level in Neuro or equivalent combination of post graduate diplomas
- Further education in Counselling or Equivalent

- Post-registration experience of working in a community setting at a senior level.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in supervising and appraising junior clinicians/support workers.
- Experience in supervising students
- Experience of working in the NHS

- Knowledge and understanding of complex medical conditions including, multi-pathologies
- Knowledge of role of MDT and interdisciplinary team working

- Knowledge of the Clinical Guidelines related to neurological disorders specifically MS
- Ability to problem solve, prioritise and demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning
- Knowledge and understanding of Clinical Governance and its application to clinical practice
- Advanced communication and report writing skills, in both verbal and written format
- Basic IT skills - Microsoft Word, Power point, Excel
