Job summary

A small number of vacancies have arisen for Practitioners to join our friendly, supportive, Nurse led teams at the Edgware and the Finchley Walk-in Centres. We may consider offering support and training for those who do not have the full educational or practical experience for the Band 7 role.

These centres offer a high standard of unscheduled care daily from 8am to 8pm for patients attending with a wide variety of undifferentiated conditions, most usually minor illnesses and injuries. These centres are staffed primarily by teams of experienced Nurse practitioners with the additional support of General Practitioners and other allied healthcare professionals.

With the support of our team of highly experiences 8A advanced practitioners we will enable you to develop other skills, such as mentoring and co-ordinating the day-to-day operations of the department.

Opportunities are also available for suitable advanced practitioners to progress to senior 8a roles.

Both sites have X-ray facilities enabling a wide range of clinical experience.

Main duties of the job

What do you need to join our team?

  • A current NMC/ HCP registration with and Advanced Clinical Practice Level 7 qualification or accredited minor injury, minor illness and physical assessment qualification are essential for this post.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate previous consolidation and application of their knowledge and skills with respect to the independent assessment and management of patients presenting with undifferentiated healthcare complaints.
  • Evidence of this may be demonstrated through previous autonomous practice in a Walk-in or Urgent Care Centre, in a Community setting or in an Emergency Department.
  • Skills in X-ray interpretation, fracture management and wound closure are highly desirable.
  • An independent Nurse Prescriber or child nurse qualification would be highly advantageous.

Band 6

  • A current NMC/ HCP registration.
  • Previous experience working in a Walk-in or Urgent Care Centre, in a community setting or in an Emergency Department is essential.
  • An advanced practice level 7 course or accredited minor injuries and minor illness qualification are highly desirable for this post, but training would be provided to successful candidates without all of the above.
  • An independent Nurse Prescriber Qualification would be highly advantageous
