We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join the Mainstream Schools Team. Therapists work closely with school staff to support children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs in schools as well as contributing to training initiatives and project work.

Main duties of the job

We provide SLT to children and young people at SEN support and with EHCPs in Brent primary schools, secondary and FE Colleges

Your role would include:

  • One day a week in a mainstream school with DHI ARP developing skills in working with school age CYP with DHI working collaboratively with families, Teachers of the Deaf, and the wider multi-disciplinary team to support the development and communication of deaf children
  • Build on your specialist skills and experience in supporting deaf children and their families.
  • The assessment of CYP with a range of speech, language and communication needs including- DLD, ASD, speech sound difficulties, selective mutism.
  • Working directly with children in groups and individually, as well as offering advice and strategies to school staff and parents.

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent and Licence to Practice - Royal College of Speech/Language Therapists
  • Current registered membership of HPC and RCSLT

Desirable

  • RCSLT NQP competencies completed

Experience

  • Working with children with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties - including ASD, DLD, selective mutism and speech sound disorders
  • Collaborative work with parents and other professionals, especially teachers in a school setting
  • Training others
  • Post graduate experience of working with children.
