We specialise in general rehabilitation & offer a 17-day pathway for patients with a variety of comorbidities. The post holder will be required to complete assessments, interventions and rehabilitation programmes to aid the recovery of patients admitted to St Peters ward.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual, who is passionate about helping patients to improve their quality of life & helping staff to develop in their roles and are keen to learn. You will be working with a dedicated multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously, have excellent communication & time management skills with the ability to problem solve and prioritise.
In this role you will be required to supervise a band 5 occupational therapist and students within the team. In addition to assisting with the team with the patient caseload, service development and quality improvement projects you will have the opportunity to deputise for the Band 7 OT.
Main duties of the job
oTo be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy in our Non weight bearing beds and Rehabilitation Beds ensuring that services support the discharge of patients by providing specialist assessment and discharge planning.
oTo work as part of a team including a physiotherapist, rehabilitation assistant, Adult Care Services and care home staff to facilitate timely assessment and timely, co-ordinated discharge planning at Forest Care Village
oTo work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the rehabilitation units to facilitate timely assessment and timely, co-ordinated discharge planning as required
oTo hold responsibility for own caseload, working with and without direct supervision.
oProvide support for the clinical supervision student Occupational Therapists and give direction to members of support staff.
oTo work flexibly, being willing to work on other Units if / when required.
