You will join our dynamic multi-disciplinary Community Neuro team, based in Harpenden Memorial Hospital, consisting of OTs, physios, Clinical Psychologists, Nurses and rehab assistants, and supported by administrators. You will be involved in assessment therapy and management of people who have a range of neurological disorders, with a special interest in acquired brain injury. This will involve seeing people in our newly refurbished clinic spaces at Harpenden Memorial Hospital, and also seeing people in community settings and their own homes.
You will be part of a supportive team, ABI and wider neuro team, and have opportunities for development of your neuro -rehabilitation skills through regular supervision, in-service training and joint working opportunities.
Main duties of the job
- To be an active member of CLCH inter-disciplinary Community Neuro Service providing support and direction for the junior staff.
- To assess and treat own caseload of clients who are within the Community Neuro pathway, with a range of neurological conditions but holding a caseload of patients with Acquired Brain injury (ABI)
- To work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
- To build up and maintain key relationships with associated services including referrers and other agencies.
- To take lead role for occupational therapy in the area of ABI, prioritising and ensuring a timely response for assessments.
- To be responsible for the supervision and line management of junior staff, including Band 6 occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants and occupational therapy students.

- Evidence of up to date CPD portfolio
- Involvement in Appraisal Scheme
- Attendance at specialist advanced courses or equivalent CPD activities within the specialist areas of Adult Rehabilitation, Neurology and acquired brain injury
- Member of COT

- Member of a Special Interest Group relevant to this post
- Educated to Masters Level in Neuro Occupational Therapy or equivalent combination of post graduate diplomas
Experience

- Experience post registration as a Band 6 Occupational Therapy in neurology/ABI rehabilitation and long term disability management
- Post-registration experience of working in a community rehabilitation setting at a senior level.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience working at a junior level in a wide range of specialist clinical areas including, stroke and neurology, Cognitive impairments outpatients,
