Job summary

We have a full time Band 5 SLT post in our Barnet Community SLT Service. The post will involve covering Planned Care, plus one of the following services:

The Parkinson's Service, Inpatient wards or the Early Supported Discharge team. We are looking for a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic SLT who would like to join us.

We offer care in the patients' homes, in clinics, virtually and in some inpatient rehab settings. This post offers opportunity to develop your clinical skills working with a range of communication disorders, and there will also be an opportunity for dysphagia training. This post offers joint working with a range of professionals and opportunities to contribute to service development.

You will be issued with a laptop that enables you to access clinical systems from the community in order to facilitate virtual assessment and therapy. The service encourages staff to make appropriate use of mobile working to aid service delivery and facilitate smarter working.

CLCH offers a range of training and development opportunities as well as excellent supervision and management support. There is a support network of SLTs locally in Barnet as well as across CLCH, with regular meetings where clinical and professional issues can be discussed, and regular in-service trainings.

Main duties of the job

Be an active member of the clinical team, providing a comprehensive Speech & Language Therapy service to residents of Barnet.

Work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner including assessing and treating own caseload of patients/patients and maintaining professional documentation.

Build up and maintain key relationships with referring services/ Inpatient Rehabilitation Units/ Learning Disabilities / HEFT Service / Parkinson's / voluntary and third sector organisations and acute stroke services to facilitate appropriate referrals and an understanding of the role of the Speech & Language Therapist and the multi-professional team.

Work in a variety of settings in the community to deliver appropriate treatment including, patients own home, inpatient rehab units and nursing homes

Support self and service development through active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and by participating in any audit or research being undertaken by the service.
