Job summary

o To Provide a specialist clinical service with responsibility to a caseloadspecific to the role for children with developmental speech and languagedelays / disorders / social communication / feeding or swallowing difficultiesas relevant to the role.o To provide a service at settings within designated locality, working closelywith parents/carers, schools staff and other relevant professionals, to enablechildren to develop their speech, language and communication skills and toaccess the age relevant curriculumo To assess the needs for, develop and implement Speech and LanguageTherapy treatment to children referred within designated locality andpresenting with a wide range of speech, language and communicationdifficulties

o To understand and meet professional and legal SEND responsibilitiesoutlined in the Children and Families Act 2014 including contributing tostatutory assessments of special educational needs and delivery of Speechand Language Therapy prov

Main duties of the job

  • To manage and prioritise own caseload independently, demonstrating skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management
  • To assess the need for, develop and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment to children referred within designated locality with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties
  • To deliver Speech and Language Therapy provision to children as specified in Education Health and Care Plans in line with the Children and Families Act 2014
  • To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures relevant to the field, in particular in the field(s) of specialisation

  • oRecognised SLT degree
  • oRegistration with Health & Care Professionals Council.

  • oCompletion of dysphagia competencies

Desirable

  • oEvidence of relevant post-registration education and training e.g. in Stroke, Supervision
  • oMember of a relevant Clinical Excellence Network

  • oExperience of working in a variety of adult clinical settings within the UK/NHS
  • oExperience of working and liaising with other MDT professionals
