An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on a Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults and MCA Lead role in Wandsworth and Merton working in the Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust safeguarding team.

We are looking appoint an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner with experience of working with complex cases and who has a good understanding of the legal duties regarding Care Act, Human Rights, adults at risk, multi-agency working and making safeguarding personal.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work in conjunction with the Associate Director of Safeguarding, the Head of Safeguarding and with the wider Safeguarding team, to deliver specialist safeguarding advice and support to CLCH staff in accordance with local and national policy, guidance, and emerging legislation.

Safeguarding is the golden thread across all health and social care services and the experience of working in a Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults and MCA Lead role in CLCH will equip you with transferrable skills and experience for future career development.

The ability to work independently is essential and frequent travel across the organisational area may be required.

Provide highly specialised advice, support, safeguarding supervision and training to CLCH staff on all aspects of safeguarding adults at risk, including the raising of alerts, referrals, engaging in safeguarding processes and providing reports for internal and external safeguarding meetings To cover the adult safeguarding duty system for reviewing and actioning safeguarding datix incidents and contributing to the investigation process as required. To be responsible for contributing to and in some cases coordinating meetings regarding safeguarding incidents involving patients open to CLCH services and linking in with the relevant local authority and clinical colleagues to share information to inform safe and effective decision making. To support staff and managers to recognise and fulfil their duty under the Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2007), Mental Capacity Amendment Act (2019) and other relevant legislation.

  • NMC registered nurse or allied health professional
  • Educated to master's level or relevant experience working with in community nursing or other health related professional qualifications
  • Evidence of professional development

Desirable

  • A commitment to undertake further training
  • Formal education in teaching or / experience in developing and delivering training programmes
  • Safeguarding supervisor training

Experience

Essential

  • Experience and specialist knowledge of safeguarding services.
  • Extensive experience of working with adults who have complex needs.
