Weekly pay will include: Basic pay + HCAS + 12.07% Holiday pay + Unsocial hours (If applicable)

Main duties of the job

  1. To deliver an effective and competent level of therapy programme set up by therapists within the OPS under the guidance and supervision of the therapy This will be led by the client's rehabilitation plan and will include supporting the work of the OTs, PTs, SALTs and other team members.
  2. To carry out simple assessments as directed by senior therapists and report
  3. To promptly report any therapy programme concerns to an appropriate professional as indicated by that professional's "professional guidelines"
  4. To consistently deliver a client-focused service which promotes optimum independence to facilitate discharge in to the community
  5. To adhere to the in-house code of conduct and attend mandatory and contribute to in-service
  6. To take a lead role in the induction of other Rehabilitation assistants

Job responsibilities

Clinical

  1. To contribute to the initial and on-going assessment by recording and reporting feedback to the therapist.

  1. To prepare for, and assist with, clinical activities delivered by the therapist.
  2. To carry out simple assessments i.e. home access visits, kitchen assessments as directed by therapists

  1. To adhere to universal precautions and infection control guidelines, including hand washing and disposal of waste, and ensure effective cleaning of equipment before and after the activity

  1. To undertake prescribed therapy activities that you have previously been signed competent for, and report any variances or concerns back to relevant team members

  1. To assess safety of conditions and environment prior to in/outdoor rehabilitation activities

  1. To explain the process to the client and respond to questions, monitor the client during intervention on the wards and on home visits with no direct

  1. To coach other support staff in undertaking prescribed therapeutic interventions, and in the use of specific equipment

  1. To enable clients to maintain and improve their independence by fitting prescribed equipment, demonstrate and educate safe use of

  1. To teach the client mobility techniques with a variety of equipments (including wheelchairs)

  1. To assist therapists in ordering appropriate equipment for clients

  1. To refer clients to other agencies, as advised by therapist

  1. To handle and move clients, as indicated, by using prescribed equipment and techniques as detailed in training and be familiar with, and utilise, the services and advise given by the Handling Advisor

  1. To contribute to the protection of vulnerable adults from abuse by highlighting and monitoring for signs of abuse and reporting these to the therapist

Essential

  • Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3) or a recognised equivalent course
  • Willingness to undertake further training as appropriate

Desirable

  • GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths 1.5 ECDL certificate
  • Registration with the national regulatory body (when it becomes available).

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a health or social care setting
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of databases
