Job summary

Contraception and Sexual Health Nurse - B6 - 160 Falcon Rd, SW11 2NY with a requirement to rotate to spoke clinics in Wandsworth/Richmond/Merton

Within the Sexual Health South West London Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health service we are looking for bank band 6 nurses to join our service. We are looking for experienced, flexible and enthusiastic applicants who have the ability to work within and across an innovative, integrated sexual health service.

Sexual Health South West London provides services across Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond in both level 2 and 3 clinics. Our level 3 clinic is located in a purposely renovated site set in the bustling heart of Clapham Junction with excellent links to all forms of public transport.

Ideally applicants will have experience in both GUM and RSH services. The successful candidate will ensure that they provide a patient focused service at all times.

Main duties of the job

o To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services within the context of a clinical governance frameworko To establish good relationships with and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, taking responsibility for the care of patients with Sexual Health and contraception needs, including assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment for the individual patient group.o To ensure that all activities in the area are carried out within CLCH Directorate policy/National guidelines.o To act as a professional role model, leading and developing clinical practice and to support and deputise for the Team Lead.o To supervise, teach & assess registered and unregistered staff including HCA's.

  • NMC Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Relevant contraceptive qualification
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • Ability to work under Patient Group Directives (PGDs)
  • Recognised mentorship and preceptorship or willingness to undertake.

Desirable

  • Relevant BSc or willingness to work towards
  • STIF Level 2 Competence
  • Letter of Competence in fitting and removing implants
  • To hold a non -medical prescriber qualification or be willing to undertake

Experience

Essential

  • Substantive experience working within a level 3 sexual health service.
  • Experience of health promotion and education
  • Evidence of working with staff from different professional disciplines
  • Awareness of HR issues
  • Able to utilise evidence in practice.
  • Be proficient in the testing treatment and management of patients with sexually transmitted infections (STI's) and screening for HIV and other blood borne viruses.
  • Experience of managing/co-ordinating teamwork
