Physical Activity Leader - Band 4 - 166 Roehampton Lane

CLCH are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated physical activity leader to join our Wandsworth Healthy Lifestyle Team.

The Wandsworth Healthy Lifestyle Team work across the borough deliver Health4Life weight management programs to children aged 2-11 as well as Mothers with a baby under 2 years old. The team work alongside the Health Visitors and School nurses to provide excellent locally based care to families within the Wandsworth borough.

You will need to display excellent communication skills and be able to work in a kind and compassionate manner to deliver motivating physical activity sessions. You will need to be creative in your approach to exercise in order to engage children of all ages. Mobile and agile working is a key part of the way the services operates so you will need to be comfortable travelling between venues throughout the day.

Main duties of the job

What do you need to join our team?

  • Degree or Diploma in relevant subject area, or equivalent knowledge and experience gained through working in a specialised physical activity role.
  • REPS/CIMSPA registered
  • Experience working with children
  • An enthusiastic can do attitude

  • To Plan, organize, deliver and evaluate the physical activity element of the tier 2 weight management service to postnatal women and children aged 2-11 years.
  • Deliver age-appropriate physical activity sessions as part of a range of weight management programs, alongside a nutritionist.
  • Seek feedback from participants to continually improve and develop physical activity sessions.
  • To work closely with partners to promote the weight management programs.
  • To have an innovative approach to practice in response to changing service needs and priorities.

Essential

  • REPS/CIMSPA registered
  • Postnatal exercise qualification
  • Degree or diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience gained through working in specialized physical activity
  • Basic literacy and numeracy, general education

Desirable

  • Nutrition qualification/CPD
  • Evidence of continuing education and training

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience of delivering and promoting physical activity programs in a community environment
  • Experience of planning a series of progressive physical activity sessions leading to sustainable community participation
  • Experience of working with adults and children (age 0-11) in a 1-2-1 and group environment to support positive lifestyle change

Desirable

  • Experience of providing or developing health interventions for targeted groups.
  • Experience in dealing with members of the public who may have communication difficulties

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Sound knowledge of physical activity and health policy
  • Understands the links between physical activity and health
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate projects
