Would you like to be part of our dynamic, fast paced Chief Operating Officer team?

Our Operational Divisions work across the entire geography of the organisation and account for 90% of the trust workforce. This role sits as part of the leadership team within the COO team, working alongside the COO, Directors of Operations, Director of Operational Resilience and Support Services and the Operations Project Manager.

This role is designed to provide high quality business support to the Chief Operating Officer and has overall responsibility for maintaining, managing the day-to-day business at a high level.

It is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, efficient, proactive role model who has the ability to work autonomously and developing strong personal relationships with the diverse workforce of the Division.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of both Corporate and Operational services and be committed to supporting quality and safe healthcare services. A good knowledge of current operational delivery and an operational background is also an advantage.

Main duties of the job

The Business Manager will provide high quality business support to the Chief Operating Officer The post holder will have overall responsibility for maintaining, managing and developing the divisions information systems and ensure that the day-to-day business is managed efficiently and effectively in order to provide a high level service to the division.

With the support of the Directors of Operations and Director of Operational Resilience and Support Services responsible for the day to day management of the Business of the Division: financial, administrative staff as well as being involved in all aspects of quality agenda in addition the post holder will provide highly effective, efficient and professional personal assistance to the Chief Operating Officer. This will include effective diary management, administrative support and delegated project management and assistance in the day-to-day administrative functioning of the service.

The post holder will take responsibility for organising meetings/events, taking and circulation of formal minutes and managing correspondence as appropriate.

Will manage day to day running of the office by being responsible for stock control/office expenditure, and human resources issues including recruitment coordination.

  • Initiate and draft where appropriate, responses to letters and queries addressed to the manager and/or request other senior staff to draft appropriate responses and set deadlines to enable the manager to have sufficient time to review the draft

  • RSA II or equivalent
  • ECDL/ Microsoft or equivalent
  • Knowledge of business case procedures, range of computerised software, managerial knowledge, project monitoring, acquired through degree or equivalent experience plus further training and experience to post graduate diploma level equivalent
