Job summary

Specialist Health Visitor in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (Merton) Band 7

We are looking to recruit an experienced professional to fulfil the Specialist Health Visitor for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Lead role. The successful candidate will join our passionate team, working across the 0-19 service delivery and the Children's and Adults safeguarding agenda. The role will be based across Merton CBU (clinical business unit).

The successful candidate will hold a small caseload and be responsible for providing relevant consultation, training and support to the universal children's services. The emphasis will be on early intervention, prevention of mental health difficulties, and the promotion of positive relationships between parents and their infants.

The successful candidate will act as a resource for the mainstream 0-19 service providing expert advice and guidance and act as an advocate for families with perinatal/infant mental health concerns with relevant HCPs (health care professionals), agencies and stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

Scope the current provision across the boroughs relating to perinatal and infant mental health (PIMH) and provide an analysis of any gaps in service or practice.

To act as a role model demonstrating highly specialist knowledge in health visiting practice as the HIA lead for PIMH, that is underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practice experience.

To identify, prioritise and implement programmes of care that meets the public health needs of the population for the defined High Impact Area of maternal mental health.

Plan, organise, evaluate and where appropriate, delegate to other members of the Health Visiting team to ensure delivery of a high quality service.

To ensure provision associated with the HIA attends to the needs of children identified as at risk and / or with complex needs, taking appropriate action when required.

To maintain links and work closely with the Safeguarding Team.

To have an innovative approach to practice in response to changing service needs and priorities. Acting as a change agent and facilitating the change process.
