An excellent opportunity has arisen within Brent paediatric therapy services for a B5 paediatric physiotherapist. This exciting post will offer experience and training in early years, specialist educational settings and MSK/orthopaedic clinics, giving you an opportunity to develop your skills and competencies across a range of different ages and paediatric conditions in community settings.

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic paediatric physiotherapist with appropriate physiotherapy skills to join our friendly, supportive paediatric therapy team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists and assistants. We are dedicated to developing innovative services and work collaboratively with our local Child Developmental Team, Education and Social Care services, with joint assessments and discussion forums.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the integrated team you will provide a high quality physiotherapy service to Children & Young People, aged 0 to19 years in Brent. You will hold a varied SEN caseload, and will be expected to undertake specialist Physiotherapy assessments and devise client centered treatment interventions. The post holder will also contribute to physiotherapy plans for young people transitioning into adult services.

  • To carry out standardised assessments as appropriate and interventions with clients referred to the team in a home, clinic or nursery/school setting.
  • To provide written reports detailing assessment outcomes and goals for treatment, some of which may link to their EHCP outcomes.
  • To work under the guidance of a senior Physiotherapist to ensure competency in using a range of practical skills (e.g. gross motor skills, co-ordination skills, developmental skills, assessment of equipment needs etc.)
  • To follow up learning and development activities as recommended. To develop and maintain a base level of theoretical knowledge about common conditions and their implications eg: neurological and neuromuscular conditions, developmental delay, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders etc., paediatric MSK and orthopaedic conditions.
  • To devise written home/school treatment programs for children requiring them.
  • To work under the guidance of a senior Physiotherapist, independently carrying out visits to school or home to hand over to carers, intervention activities or programs for the child and to gain parents/carers/schools co-operation in their intervention.

  • Degree or equivalent Diploma/Qualification in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
