Diabetes Specialist Dietitian, Band 7 - Battersea Studios SW8 3HE
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Band 7 Dietitian to join our dynamic team.We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of Consultants, Dietitians, Podiatrist as well as Specialist Nurses. The team receives referrals from many primary care and community services as well as local acute hospitals.
We are a unique community provider as we manage people with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and are an initiating centre for Freestyle Libre. We also deliver DAFNE & DESMOND structured education.
We are based in Battersea with excellent transport links and work within the London Borough of Wandsworth. We are also on many bus routes, Queens Town Road and Battersea Park stations are a short walk away.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will:
- Have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe, patient care reflecting the Trusts core values.
- Provide patients with individualised evidence-based advice using knowledge of behavioural change.
- You must be a team player who is willing to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver the best care possible for our patients.
- Have previous relevant experience working with diabetes services.
- Have specialist knowledge in the management of patients with Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be focused and well organised.
- Have excellent group education and presentation skills.
- Be flexible and responsive to meeting service needs.

To take a role within the Community Diabetes Service to provide a specialist clinical Dietetic Diabetes Service, which contributes to the strategic planning and delivery of the multidisciplinary Community Diabetes Service in line with the strategic direction of the Service and Trust objectives.
To be a key member of the multidisciplinary Community Diabetes Service to plan and deliver high quality integrated diabetes care in the community across Tiers 1-3
To provide specialist assessment and treatment of clients with both Type 1 & Type 2 diabetes, liaise with other agencies and health professionals and maintain accurate clinical records.
To engage with and work alongside local engagement projects e.g. support groups and Diabetes champions according to NICE guidelines
To carry out specialist nutrition training and education for Diabetes.
To utilize project management skills and work in partnership with service users, other healthcare providers and professionals to plan, develop, implement and evaluate service developments and diabetes interventions based on current evidence-based guidelines and policies, which respond to local need, Trust strategic objectives, government initiatives and national policies, e.g. Diabetes NSF, NICE guidance and Healthcare for London
.To be involved in the development and implementation of dietetic clinical standards, policies and procedures for the multidisciplinary Community Diabetes Service. To undertake specific dietetic clinical audit and/or research projects for the multidisciplinary Community Diabetes Service to inform Clinical Governance strategy and service development. Develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development
