Bank Prosthodontist - Specialist in Specialist in Prosthodontics

Central London Community Healthcare Trust would like to share the opportunity to be part of a large, well established community and specialist dental service, working amongst a professional, friendly dental team. We work across the boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.

We are looking for a specialist prosthodontist work in our Soho Clinic.

The primary role of the Specialist in Prosthodontics is to support the consultant in restorative dentistry and other colleagues by undertaking new patient consultations, complex Prosthodontics treatments and referral triage.

It is essential the post holder is on the Specialist Register for Prosthodontics and is able to provide tier 3 prosthodontics care. The service is commissioned for the provision of removal prosthodontics. The postholder will be required to triage referrals and accept patients with complex needs for example extensive anatomical resorption of edentulous sites in patients requiring complete dentures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The post holder will undertake treatment and reviews under the prescription or guidance of the Consultant in Restorative Dentistry or Clinical Director.

  1. To provide written reports detailing the above to the referring clinicians.
  2. To provide clinical advice, support, training and/or supervision to the dental team and assist in the process of raising standards.
  3. To use appropriate local anaesthesia and pain management techniques to control pain and anxiety during treatment.
  1. To liaise with the rest of the clinical and administrative dental team to order and utilise appropriate equipment and materials needed to deliver the most up to date care standards.
  2. To be responsible for the running of the dental surgery when on site, ensuring clinical protocols and policies are implemented and adhered to.
  3. To keep up to date medical histories, consent forms and contemporaneous clinical records.
  4. To participate in the Trusts Clinical Governance framework including clinical audit and appraisal.
  5. To be responsible for their own Continuing Professional Development especially with regard to fulfilling their verifiable and non-verifiable CPD requirements for the GDC.
  6. To assist with the development and implementation of dental health education and lifestyle changes e.g. hygiene instructions, smoking cessation, diet and alcohol advice.
  7. To record all patient and non-patient related activity on the Trusts IT system and undertake appropriate training in the effective use of the particular system.

11.To liaise with other clinicians (endodontists, oral surgeons, periodontists, etc) within the service to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to treatment thereby ensuring the highest quality of care is provided.

12.To provide treatment that is relevant to their skill and knowledge.

  1. To ensure confidentiality requirements are respected in all matters relating to patients and Trust issues.
  • To maintain an awareness and implement polices related to the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974); Data Protection and Confidentiality policies, Medical Emergency policies and management.

15.To co-operate with the Trusts Occupational Health Service regarding requirements for Hepatitis B, TB vaccination etc. and general health.

16.It is essential that the postholder belongs to a professional association/body and it is also recommended they belong to a medical/dental defence organisation.

17.To undertake other duties as commensurate to the role.
