Wandsworth - Health Care Support Worker
The South West London Sexual Health Service provides clinics to individuals seeking advice and support on all matters relating to contraception and sexual health.
This post is a Full time vacancy over our sites in Wandsworth, Merton and Richmond. The post may require some Saturday working and out of hours working until 8pm at night.
We are seeking a motivated and innovative Health Care Support Worker to support our medical and nursing practitioners.
The post holder may be required to see clients and offer advice on sexual health, to be involved in taking of samples including blood (training provided if required) for investigations for sexually transmitted infections and to carry out pregnancy testing.
The post holder will chaperone men and women undergoing invasive procedures.
Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Good customer service and administration skills are also required to support the team. Experience working within CASH and/or Sexual Health clinics would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
To provide direct patient centred episodes of care, delegated from qualified professionals within the service, requiring a range of clinical skills, technical abilities, numeracy and literacy skills as well as a significant level of interpersonal skills.
To provide a professional and welcoming front of house reception service, utilising the electronic patient record (EPR) system to fulfil the clerical duties required of this role.
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical and non-clinical roles providing support for any requests specified by the line manager and the coordinating/senior nurse on duty.
Ensure all environments in the centre are clean and safe and report any concerns to the appropriate manager immediately.
To be welcoming, non-judgemental and have a high standard of customer service skills to ensure clients attending the service receive high quality care.
To carry out a range of diagnostic tests to include microscopy and Venepuncture - training will be provided if required.
To be comfortable in discussing sexual matters and understand the needs of sexually active young people.
