An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative individual. The Community team works with individuals who have a learning disability, with additional complex and high risk needs.

The Community Team at BCHC is an MDT that work collaboratively to support adults in the community of Birmingham with learning disabilities, this encompasses a variety of complex and challenging behaviours which would give the ideal candidate a great opportunity to develop their skills and create a fantastic career pathway through the specialty. The successful candidate will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing.

Main duties of the job

If you are considering a career outside of the hospital environment then you may opt for a Specialist Learning Disability Multi Disciplinary Community Team. This is a fast paced intensive service with significant demand, we need Nursing Associates who can think independently, make decisions and bridge our Support Workers and Registered Professionals. You will be working independently in people's own homes and clinic settings delivering care planned and evaluated by our Registered Nurses. You need be confident in your own decision making and ready to make a difference in this new role. You will have a extensive experience within Learning Disabilities. Car Driver and access to a car for work purposes essential. Flexible working will be considered.

  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
  • Health & Social Care qualification, level 2/3

Experience

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information

Skills/Knowledge

  • oUndertake clinical tasks including Electro Cardio Gram and Venopuncture.
  • oUnderstanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
  • oUnderstands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
  • oKnowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
  • oUnderstand requirements for NMC professional revalidation.
  • oUnderstanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans.
