Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen within the Temporary Staffing Team for a full time, Senior Bank Recruitment Lead.

The Temporary Staffing Service is a busy and diverse working environment which provides temporary clinical and administration staff to services across Birmingham Community NHS Foundation Trust. We pride ourselves on providing high quality dedicated Bank members to meet staffing shortfalls in our clinical and non-clinical services.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Bank Recruitment Lead will work closely with the Bank Office's Clinical and Non-Clinical Recruiting Managers to attract new workers to our Trust Bank and will be responsible for aiding smooth transition form Application to Active Bank Worker. The tasks required of the role include, but not limited to;

  • Liaising with the Bank Recruitment Officer
  • Developing and Directing Bank adverts to attract new workers
  • Shortlisting new candidates
  • Setting up and Supporting Interviews
  • Collating Bank Worker Information, Personal Details and Documentation
  • Systems Set Up of new worker (ESR, Heathroster MAPs & Bankstaff)

To perform well in this position you will need to be highly organised, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, be a good team player who is able to use own initiative, prioritise your workload, whilst working to tight deadlines and dealing with frequently changing priorities. Your work will mainly be IT based so you should have an excellent customer service background as well as good keyboard skills and a proven working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages is essential. Full training will be provided for our specialist software.

You will need to be willing to learn and undertake training and development that the role requires. Excellent written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential as direct contact with a range of staff and departments internally as well as external to the Trust is pivotal to this role.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will:

Act as the Bank lead for all Bank worker recruitment and fast track processes. Ensuring Bank recruitment is undertaken in accordance with agreed Trust and national recruitment guidelines and procedures.

Act as a point of contact for any Bank adverts and manage Bank recruitment social media accounts.

Responsible for the efficient management of all Bank recruitment including long listing and organising, supervision and support of Divisional shortlisters and interview panels.

Manage recruitment open days for Bank worker recruitment, arranging recruitment panels and checking and signing of timesheets, confirming hours worked as necessary.

Act as an expert Bank system user to ensure that new Bank workers are registered on the Bank system and hired correctly in ESR for the purposes of pay following completion of recruitment.The post holder will provide training and support to Bank Co-ordinators as appropriate to ensure that Bank workers are hired and terminated efficiently.

Provide specialist advice and information promptly regarding the most effective way to join the Trust Bank including recruitment via fast track application, advertised jobs and ad hoc specialist recruitment. Ensure that applicants and requesting managers are informed and updated on a regular basis including any information on agency fees or additional notice period that may be relevant.

Support applicants through the recruitment process including setting up of DBS risk assessments or right to work assessments with the relevant Bank manager and handling of any relevant sensitive information to ensure compliance with GDPR. This may involve delivering of contentious information which will require tact, sensitivity, empathy and negotiation skills.

The post holder will need to provide and manage sensitive information on a daily basis including safe staffing reports, Bank and agency usage reports, Divisional temporary worker spend reports and new service implementation reports to identify areas for targeted recruitment.

Deal with a range of queries from both applicants and service managers appropriately ensuring that queries are recorded and monitored.

Ensure that where appropriate new applicants receive help with additional needs including referral to Team Prevent and completion of relevant risk assessments as necessary.

Responsible for ensuring that new workers have access to systems and equipment prior to the commencement of the first shift where appropriate. This may involve setting up of new I.T. accounts, issuing of uniforms and training in how to use systems for processing of timesheets and expenses.

Liaise with the Compliance Team to ensure the completion of induction and relevant mandatory training before commencement. Where this is not possible, escalate gaps in compliance with Bank management team and liaise with services as appropriate to ensure risk assessments are completed and recorded.

Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with Divisional management teams, HR Business Partners and the Recruitment Team, working together to address issues and continually improve the Bank recruitment and retention process. This will involve working on specialist projects aimed at improving retention and recruitment of workers. This may also involve liaising with new Bank workers who have not picked up any shifts to identify the reasons for this and to discuss with service managers and HR Business Partners where barriers to work have been identified.

Identify, escalate and communicate issues and concerns about delays in recruitment. Work in partnership with the Bank management team, Recruitment and service leads to analyse issues and support the development of management solutions where appropriate.
