Job summary

The successful candidate will also be expected to provide professional support to the Children's Community Nursing service and Rapid Response Teams. The Palliative Care Service works alongside other Specialist Nursing Services including Children's Complex Care and Special School Nursing teams. As part of the palliative care nursing team you will participate in the on call to provide end of life care to the children and young people requiring it If you have a passion for ensuring that CYP and their family are well supported at home during the palliative and terminal phase of their care and have the necessary knowledge and skills as identified in the person specification, then we would be very interested in receiving an application from you. Main duties of the job

Are you READY for a new challenge? A new exciting opportunity has arisen for three additional skilled, motivated and compassionate nurses with relevant experience in caring for children with life threatening/limiting conditions.Our established, passionate, and dedicated Children's Palliative Care Nursing Service delivers high quality and holistic child centred care to CYP who require nursing interventions. Focus of care will be on quality of life, supporting the child/young person and family through their palliative care journey and end of life phase whilst in their own home. We require someone who is passionate about palliative care and can make a difference to the lives of children and young people (CYP) and their family. The post holder will be required to support families to ensure all aspects of social, emotional, practical, and nursing needs are met.

Essential

  • RSCN/RN Child Branch, Adult, Learning Disabilities
  • ENB 998 (Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice) or equivalent

Desirable

  • Community Children's Nursing qualification or equivalent
  • Specialist Children's Palliative Care qualification or equivalent
  • Independent supplementary prescriber or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children with life limiting/ threatening illnesses and end of life
  • Significant experience of working as a Children's Nurse either RSCN/RN Child
  • Demonstrable relevant experience in Paediatric Palliative care Significant experience working within adult palliative care

Skills/knowledge

  • Ability to manage team on a day to day basis in the absence of the Team Leader/Senior Nurse
  • Demonstrate knowledge relating to child protection ssues and procedures or those relevant to Adult Safeguarding practice
  • Evidence of assessment skills and use of nursing process and nurse models
