Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Teaching fellow to support the Aston University undergraduate medical students placed with Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust, for a fixed term of twelve months.

Main duties of the job

Duties will involve teaching medical students, as well as some ward duties in geriatrics. There is no commitment to an out of hours rota but locum shifts are available for out of hours work. The successful applicants will be encouraged to apply and complete a PG Certificate in Medical Education ( funded as part of post.

About us

The team is a small friendly group of Consultants and staff grades in geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine. BCHC has community in-patient beds at both Moseley Hall and West Heath Hospital, as well as out patient services.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Medical Practitoner with MB.BS or equivalent
  • Completion of Foundation years training or similar clinical experience
  • Competent in history taking and examination skills.

Desirable

  • Evidence of experience of teaching medical students
  • Evidence of good academic record.

  • Relevant experience working in the NHS ( not clinical attachment)
  • Good written communication skills
