Job summary

The post holder works as part of the Community Paediatrician Team and participates in the delivery of patient centred care, maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude at all times.The role has a priority focus on supporting the process of child protection medicals undertaken by Community Paediatricians. The post holder will be responsible for chaperoning children and young people during child protection medicals. They will support in the provision of a caring and safe environment for babies, children and young people who are undergoing a child protection medical.

Main duties of the job

  • Work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team supporting colleagues in work associated with responding to requests for child protection medicals.
  • Work across various locations on a flexible basis in order to respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Obtain prompt assistance during an emergency situation
  • Be aware of the most appropriate route to raise concerns and do so if concerned about the medical professional's behaviour or actions
  • During periods when child protection medicals are not being carried out, to support the Child Development Centres, service and Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children and Young People as required and where appropriate, for example with ICPC and Safeguarding audits, ensure equipment is serviced and bases have adequate supplies/equipment.
