Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Patient Safety Team at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in the role of 'Patient Safety Programme Manager'. You will be working as part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team who want to lead the way in organisation wide patient safety, research and innovation, and improvement.

This role involves monitoring and supporting the reduction of harms agenda across the organisation. You will work on different patient safety workstreams to enable a meaningful reduction in harm. You will interact with harms practitioners, specialists, leaders, and system partners to support and promote a positive safety culture and to deliver the national Patient Safety Strategy. You will be expected to keep abreast of new developments in patient safety sciences and be instrumental in establishing, supporting, and maintaining local governance function, provide specialist education and training, as well as impacting on systems and processes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Head of Patient Safety and the Patient Safety Quality Clinical Lead in the implementation and delivery of Trust wide Patient Safety improvement interventions including the delivery of key work streams in the national Patient Safety Strategy.

The post holder will provide expert knowledge, as well as clear professional and clinical direction with divisional teams to progress workstreams to improve patient safety and reduce avoidable harm.

The post holder will be expected to take the lead on discrete work streams. This may also include leading clinical task groups, supporting improvement projects, facilitating research and innovation, and being the patient safety representative on groups/committees as appropriate.
