Job summary

We are recruiting two part time Domestic assistants to join the team at West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre , various hours and shift patterns available.

The domestic will enhance the patients experience by ensuring that the clinical environment is clean, well presented and maintained in a way which maximizes the patients sense of comfort, safety and well being.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure the environment is cleaned in line with the National Cleaning Standards.
  • Using electrical machinery.
  • Cleaning medical/hard equiptment.
  • Report maintenance issues

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the service.
  • Undertake scheduled cleaning tasks, including the cleaning of medical equipment as per schedules.
  • Up hold all infection prevention and control measures as required within the trust.
  • Ensuring that all domestic consumables are available at all times in the appropriate dispenser/holder.
  • Undertake ad-hoc cleaning taskks as required by the senior housekeeper and/or clinical staff.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety in the workplace legislation is adhered to.
  • Ensure that the Ward communal areas, in particular, dining areas are kept clean and presentable for patients and visitors.
  • Assist with the curtain change programme.
  • Report the need for any Estates maintenance requests to the senior housekeeper.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and liaising .with the senior housekeeper to develop those improvements

  • Good basic education. Ability to read and write with numerical skills

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2, British Institute of Cleaning Science in Domestic Services or equivalent and a willingness to undertake within 6 months of employment

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of using electrical equipment. Eg. Rotary machines, and stream cleaners

Desirable

  • Relevant experience of working in a healthcare setting.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of COSHH, Health and Safety in the workplace and, safe systems of working

Desirable

  • Full understanding and knowledge of cleaning schedules and frequencies
