Job summary

The Head of Equality and Inclusion will report to and support the Director of Equality and Inclusion to provide strong, professional leadership in quality governance of EDI and risk across the Trust, as well as creating a strong EDI integrated team and supporting a cultural shift to ensure that EDI is seen as everyone's business and that it is explicit in everything that we do. Ensuring that the strategy remains relevant, contemporary, and aligned to core Trust business and strategic plans, you will lead the workforce EDI function; Health Inequalities function and Service Equalities/Community Engagement function to support the ambition of the organisation to be an inclusive and diverse employer and deliverer of care.

You will be responsible for integrating, coordinating, and assuring the systems and processes are in place for the delivery of high-quality EDI care and through your leadership of the EDI Strategy.

Key objectives for the post will include:

  • Implementation of a delivery plan for the EDI strategy in line with the Trust corporate objective
  • Developing a fully integrated EDI delivery team
  • Ensuring that EDI is seen as everyone's business and is explicit in everything we do

Main duties of the job

  • Reporting directly to the Director of Equality and Inclusion and acting as a specialist advisor on all issues related to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Supporting the Director of Equality and Inclusion in the delivery of EDI and related work streams, ensuring that the Trust has a compelling overarching ambition for equality and inclusion.

  • Communicating and advising on potentially contentious, highly complex and sensitive equality and inclusion information with primary responsibility for negotiating delivery with key stakeholders in the clinical and Corporate Divisions.

  • Developing robust monitoring, information, and reporting systems to inform improvement plans, track progress and to ensure the Trust meets its statutory reporting obligations relating to ED&I.
