We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and experienced Nutrition Nurse Team Leader for Learning Disabilities to work alongside our award-winning community Nutrition Nurse team. This role will lead a team of nurses caring for learning disability patients with enteral feeding tubes in Birmingham.
Main duties of the job
This role will involve supporting learning disability patients and their carers with enteral feeding tubes in their own homes, and community care settings. You will also be supporting your team, the Learning Disability Division, the wider Trust, carers and other agencies to develop their knowledge and practice in the care of enteral feeding tubes.

The Nutrition Nurse Team Leader for Learning Disabilities will lead, coordinate and develop the provision of a specialist learning disability nutrition nursing service within Birmingham. They will provide clinical leadership for and co-ordinate the service provided by the LD Nutrition Support Nurses. Your role will involve liaising with the Learning Disability multidisciplinary team as a clinical expert in order to provide effective care for enteral feeding patients.
The LD Nutrition Nurse Team liaises closely with acute units, enteral feeding companies, colleges, day centres, respite units, community hospitals and nursing homes in relation to home enteral feeding discharges, assessment for initiation of enteral feeding, direct patient care and staff training.
The successful post holder should therefore have extensive experience in enteral feeding. As this post is specifically to support patients with learning disabilities, experience of working with this client group will also be advantageous.
Good communication is essential as you will be expected to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across the trust and with other professionals working in the community.

- oExtensive post registration experience at a band 6 level including within speciality of enteral feeding
