Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Birmingham and Solihull Post Covid Syndrome Service (PCSS) for a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative clinician looking for a new challenge.The PCSS supports patients experiencing on-going symptoms of a new long-term condition of Post Covid Syndrome (known as Long Covid) across the Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System.

The Post Covid Team was one of the first Post Covid Services and has continually developed the pathway and rehabilitation offered. The Team includes a range of professional backgrounds (Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists) each with a range of complementing skills which encourages development of the whole team and enables the enhanced support provided to patients.

Additional support is provided through our MDT which is GP led with link clinicians from Psychology, SLT, Dietetics, Fatigue Specialist OT, Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist OT and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

The post holder will draw on their leadership and influencing skills to complement their extensive clinical expertise to provide a holistic assessment of Post Covid patients. They will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to support the rehabilitation for Post Covid patients.

The Service has highly positive patient feedback with a 90% plus Friends and Family score.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be part of a wider team with professionals from numerous specialisms. The post holder will complete a holistic assessment of complex adult patients referred to the Service by Primary Care, developing an individualised rehabilitation plan to support recovery. They will facilitate implementation of rehabilitation plans and review patient progress to enable a safe discharge.

They will utilise their skills to complement the existing clinical disciplines in the Team, to enhance the team's skills and knowledge development. They will also lead on the future development of the Service providing professional advice and expertise drawn from their previous experiences to enhance the overall quality of care across the Service.

You will also be required to ensure delivery of high-quality patient centred care measured by clinical effectiveness, patient safety and patient experience as well as ensuring clinical records are accurate and maintained in a timely way.

The post holder will be flexible to support patient appointments by telephone, virtual and face to face clinics whilst maintaining the same standard of high-quality care in each setting.
