In addition, patients attending without appointment who have self-referred, been referred by General Medical and Dental Practitioners are seen for initial assessment and/or treatment. This unit also acts as the main source, and initial sieve, for patients allocated to the undergraduate student waiting lists.

Clinical undergraduate dental students attend for both practical and theoretical instruction throughout the Department on a regular basis. The post holder will be expected to contribute to this programme as directed by the Head of Service.
