An excellent opportunity is available for enthusiastic, flexible and motivated podiatrists to join our committed and progressive High Risk team.

You will have post-graduate experience and training in Diabetes, Vascular and other High Risk conditions. You will work within a team and also be expected to work autonomously acting as a resource of expertise.

Excellent time management, communication and organisational skills are essential. Your role will provide specialist input into community High Risk Clinics and High risk home visits. You will be adept in wound assessment and management and be responsive to urgent referrals.

You will be able to demonstrate empathy, resilience, a methodical approach and an aptitude for problem solving using your own initiative.

You will liaise with the multi-disciplinary team within community and secondary care and with colleagues across the Trust. We are proud to have excellent links with the acute sector, particularly in diabetes and vascular. You will also be involved in nail surgery and prevention clinics.

Part of the role involves education of other health care professionals in presenting and providing practical workshops on the high risk foot.

You will be expected to take an active part in CPD, developing yourself, along with others in the team, including students.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide Highly Specialist Podiatry in community settings within the Trust including community clinics and hospitals, health centres, GP surgeries, residential homes, nursing homes and in the patient's own home.
  • o provide Highly Specialist Podiatry Services in acute hospital clinics across Birmingham as and when required.
  • o actively take part in presentations, workshops and study days along with the other members of the diabetes team.
  • o promote strong links with other members of the multidisciplinary team including Consultants, GPs, PNs, DSNs, as well as other healthcare professionals.
  • o undertake undergraduate clinical training on a regular basis.
