Band 7 Epilepsy specialist nurse

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 7 Epilepsy Nurse to join the Birmingham Specialist Community Learning Disability Team, subject to experience. For the Band 7 post, you will need to be a V300 Independent and Supplementary Non-Medical Prescriber.

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic nurse experienced in Epilepsy Management to deliver clinical services consistent with our Epilepsy Pathway and other Clinical Pathways. The successful applicant will work as part of the MDT Specialist Community Learning Disability Team, in collaboration with the Tertiary Complex Epilepsy Team at the University Hospital in Birmingham and building strong relationships across Secondary and Primary care services and other organisations such as social services, private and voluntary sectors.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to work autonomously and run Nurse-Led Epilepsy Clinic across the city, completing the assessment and management of epilepsy; exploring treatment options and the monitoring of those such as medication changes and VNS clinics; the completion of Epilepsy Risk Management Care Plans and Rescue Medication Care Plans for each patient; providing educational sessions, advice and support to patients, their families and carers. The post-holder will have opportunities to forge links with Epilepsy Networks such as ESNA.
