Job summary

The role is key to fulfilling the Finance and Business Intelligence directorate responsibility of creating an environment of efficient, effective, robust data on all aspects of performance to ensure that LCHS meets it national, regional and local reporting obligations and can continuously improve services for patients and populations through insight.

This post will have line of site to the patient in creating this essential foundation and environment for insight to inform decision making. This is a key foundation for delivering the 5-year FBI Strategy including creating insight to drive great care close to home.

The role will be part of a team with responsibility for providing technical solutions through development and maintenance of a trust wide Data Warehouse, and for delivering a consistent, technical solution for the integration of data from a myriad of clinical information systems. They will contribute to the directorate achieving its strategic objective of automation.

The postholder will be technically highly skilled and understand the importance of providing high quality data and information to support a wide range of reporting, analysis and business intelligence development including datasets, national and local KPIs, performance monitoring and report automation.

Main duties of the job

Working together as part of a multi-skilled team, the Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for implementation and delivery of a new platform. The role will work in a data rich environment together with data analysts and data scientists.

The Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for the delivery of Business Intelligence assets in the Trust.

The role will be responsible to ensure compounding value is created through shared data, common ontologies, and cross-organisation projects. They will do this through maintaining a focus on systems, processes, culture, performance and behaviours.

The role will work as part of a team for implementing a new data integration platform designed for end-to-end usage by a wide range of users across the organisation and wider multiple stakeholders.

As a Business Intelligence Developer , the role will be responsible for building, testing and maintaining the data architecture. The role is crucial to lay the foundation, enabling data scientists and data analysts to create new insights from data.

The role will drive best practice for data products and services within the team and building build Business Intelligence capability. The role will work with other senior team members to identify, plan, develop and deliver data services.

The role will involve driving forward improvements in data services including the development and implementation of a new data platform and roll out of platform for analytics and reporting. The role will also involve supporting the organisation with ongoing projects from a data perspective.

The role will be responsible to ensure compounding value is created through shared data, common ontologies, and cross-organisation projects. You will do this through maintaining a focus on systems, processes, culture, performance and behaviours, with a keen eye for best practice and as a collector of ideas, you will keep abreast of a wide range of national and local health and social care policy developments and provide proactive insight to ensure these are reflected in the delivery of the Trust objectives and medium to long term plans

Responsible for working with the team to continually automate by identifying areas of need/opportunity and helping to develop and implement solutions, and streamline procedures for extracting and processing regular data.

Train others on information gathering and analysis,and to develop datasets to support national reporting requirements, standards and timeframes.

To be the analytical lead and make recommendations about the performance of specific complex queries, including proposing, developing and introducing new systems for reporting and training.

Lead in the analysis and interpretation of activity and information produced and manipulate raw data in order to present information in a format suitable to a variety of internal and external audiences to demonstrate the Trusts activity and performance

To advise, in conjunction with others, on data quality within the organisation; recommend changes and new reports in areas identified as critical to the organisation.

To develop effective reporting and management tools to inform the LCHS on the Key Performance Indicators and information analysis.

To proactively review changes in the NHS data collection measures and new guidance and returns, and identify areas of risk to the organisation.

In conjunction with FBI colleagues, particularly in the operational area, , support the collation and submission of statutory returns and other organisation reports, ensuring accuracy and disseminating useful conclusions and information.

Lead on the NHS Data Model and Dictionary for England and assist other team members to develop a working knowledge.

To design, develop and implement LCHS wide processes, to support the flow of information and the delivery of targets.

To deal with agreed as well as unpredictable, ad hoc requests using varied datasets, from all levels including senior leaders to achieve organisational objectives.

  • Experience in statistical analysis and presentation techniques and have a solid understanding of research methodologies and data validation techniques.
  • Contract management experience and associated data flows
