Children's Community Training and Equipment Nurse

Job summary

We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual who enjoys supporting children and young people with health needs to thrive in community settings. The post holder will help identify the training needed to support each child's care and provide clear, child-specific education to non-healthcare professionals as well as supporting children and young people with specialist equipment needs. We are seeking someone who is comfortable working both independently and in collaboration with others, uses sound clinical judgement to guide decision making, and maintains a professional and confidential approach at all times.

Main duties of the job

To work collaboratively with children and young people, their families and healthcare professionals to identify training needs required to meet the child's health needs.

To provide patient specific education and training to non-healthcare professionals who care for children and young people with health needs within the community.

Formally assessing and signing off child specific competence where required, in accordance with guidance from the Nursing and Midwifery Council and relevant professional bodies, such as the Royal College of Nursing.

In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, to support children, young people and their families who require specialist nursing equipment, ensuring the receipt of appropriate equipment and disposables to meet their clinical needs in the community setting.

To support the Community Team Lead with staff line management, appraisals and performance management as required.

You must hold a full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Oversee the ongoing provision of the required equipment and consumable supplies.
