We are looking for a dynamic and patient focused individual to join our multidisciplinary team in the Rehabilitation unit at Herts and Essex Community Hospital, Oxford and Cambridge Ward in Bishops Stortford. Herts and Essex has 32 rehabilitation beds and takes patients on one of these pathways: 17 day Rehab pathway, Non-Weight Bearing pathway, Complex pathway.
This post is a job share with a Band 7 Physiotherapy Team Lead already doing 3 days a week. You will work alongside the Physiotherapy Team Lead, Occupational Therapy Team Lead and Ward Manager to provide leadership for the inpatient unit, managing your team, ensuring patient flow, and identifying and taking forward quality improvement.
You will deliver high quality, highly specialist clinical care to patients within scope of professional practice. Assisting Physiotherapy staff in the advanced assessment, formulation of clinical diagnoses and treatment of highly complex physical and psychological conditions.
You will work closely with the Lead Nurse, Clinical Lead and other members of the Senior Team to continue to develop the service. You will be required to travel to various locations within Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust to attend meetings that cannot be held virtually.

Main duties of the job
You will provide clinical leadership within the unit, ensuring all members of the therapy team deliver high quality clinical care within scope of professional practice and work within the competency framework.
You will support the therapists with managing their caseload, goals setting and meeting the estimated discharge dates to maintain patient flow through the unit.
To ensure patient flow you will have a close working relationship with the In Reach Team and social workers.
You will support and continually develop your therapy team, encouraging training, managing sickness, addressing performance issues, and undertake recruitment of new staff.
Through audits and feedback you will work with the OT therapy lead and ward manager, clinical quality lead and senior operational team to take forward continuous improvement.
The therapy team works closely with the nursing team. There is a lead OT and ward manager on the unit and together you will lead the 32 bed unit. Herts and Essex, Oxford and Cambridge Ward is one of 3 community hospitals in HCT and the leadership teams of these units come together regularly to discuss performance and continuous improvement. Clinical supervision is readily available and actively encouraged. The senior leadership team are visible and approachable. There are opportunities for continued professional development with leadership courses/one off study days/forums available.
